Memos for the February 2015 Evaluation Committee Meeting

Tuesday, February 10, 2015

  1. AC237 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Threaded High-Strength Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement. Revisions are proposed to clarify the scope and limitations of the criteria, revise the scope of the criteria so that the minimum specified yield strength of the high-strength steel bars is revised from 97 ksi to a range of over 80 ksi and up to 100 ksi, incorporate a minimum ratio of tensile strength over specified yield strength in Table 3 of 1.2 (based on what is now required for the 97 ksi bars in the criteria), provide an option that allows the 0.2 percent offset method to be used to determine yield strength of the high-strength steel bars, and make editorial changes to the criteria. Click here.

  2. AC232 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Anchor Channels in Concrete Elements. Revisions are proposed to clarify the strength reduction factors in the criteria; incorporate an editorial change regarding the modification factor for splitting; modify the criteria to include mention of bolts as anchors in Sections 1.3.4; modify the requirements for channel bolts to be tested in Section 7.4.2, delete test series 9 of Table 9 of Annex A and replace it with a fixed exponent for interaction; and incorporate changes that will allow for recognition of shear loads acting in the longitudinal axis of the channel for both static and cycling loads. Click here.

  3. AC308 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Post-installed Adhesive Anchors in Concrete Elements. Revisions are proposed to include an additional cyclic tension test series 14 in high-strength concrete in Annex A, Table 3.8 along with adding requirements for bond stress for 8000 psi in Table 10.10; provide additional direction of the temperature of test components in Section 9.4.5.2; add an exception in Section 9.4.8.2 for cases where the displacement at peak load exceeds the limiting value δmax; clarify the required coefficients of variation for the displacement at peak load in Section 10.25.1.1; correct the language in Section 10.25.1.2 in conjunction with the proposal of an additional test series 1e to Annex A, Table 3.8 for systems that have not been otherwise qualified in accordance with Table 3.2 of Annex A; bring the requirements on the results of durability tests in Section 10.25.10.2 in line with post installed adhesive anchors; and clarify language in Sections 10.25.3 and 10.25.4. Click here.

  4. AC446 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Headed Cast-in Specialty Inserts in Concrete Elements. Revisions are proposed to incorporate needed editorial corrections, incorporate a new exception in Section 3.8.2 to waive testing requirements of standard grades of anchor rods, and delete Sections 3.4.4 through 3.4.7 and include a new Table 2 in order to ensure that failure by head separation and thread stripping do not occur. Click here.

  5. AC385 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Special-purpose Sprinklers Used with Fixed Glazed Assemblies to Provide an Alternative to a Fire-resistance-rated Wall Assembly. Revisions are proposed to update the criteria to the 2015 I-Codes; modify Section 5.1.8 to allow removal of the “pony” wall when testing of an assembly without the “pony” wall is conducted in accordance with Section 3.1 of the criteria; modify Section 5.1.11 to allow use of the assemblies as fire barriers in the construction of exit-passage ways, horizontal exits, or exit enclosures when the “fire area” in which the assembly is located to be fully sprinkered or has been tested without a pony wall or other protection from combustible materials and add provisions outlining the documentation the registered design professional must provide to the code official; and other clarifying changes considered to be editorial. Portions of this proposal were considered by the Evaluation Committee in October 2014. Click here.
  1. AC124 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Rim Board Products. Revisions are proposed to provide correction and additional details on cooling and re-dry requirements for mechanical testing of rim board with coatings and overlays, add a new section to provide acceptance criteria for assessing the corrosion tests results of rim board products with coatings and overlays, and provide editorial corrections or clarifications in the body of the criteria. Click here.

  2. AC47-R1-2 — Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Structural Wood-based Products. Revisions are proposed to add a new section to the criteria to establish requirements for the evaluation of optional factory-applied fire-retardant overlays or coatings applied to structural wood based products. This subject was previously considered by the Evaluation Committee in October 2014. Click here.

  3. AC326 — Proposed New Appendix for the Acceptance Criteria for Proprietary Wood Preservative Systems — Common Requirements for Treatment Process, Test Methods, and Performance — Wood Glueline Preservative Systems Appendix K. A new appendix to this criteria is proposed to evaluate wood glueline preservative systems used to fabricate structural wood composites. This subject was previously considered by the Evaluation Committee in October 2014 and portions of this proposal were introduced under the June 2014 alternative criteria development process agenda. Click here.
  1. AC455 — Proposed New Acceptance Criteria for Cross-laminated Timber Panels for Use as Components of Floor and Roof Decks. A new criteria is proposed to establish requirements for cross-laminated timber panels used as components for floor and roof decks. Portions of this proposal were introduced under the August 2014 alternative criteria development process agenda. Click here.
