ICC-ES Technical Staff Present Seminar during China International Roofing and Waterproofing Expo

ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) staff presented the seminar “Building Code Requirements for Roofing and Waterproofing Materials and Building Product Evaluation and Certification in the U.S.” during the 12th China International Roofing and Waterproofing Expo. This seminar was presented to over 40 attendees by Chris Allen and Ping Cheng, ICC-ES staff engineers. The seminar was the result of a meeting between ICC-ES President Shahin Moinian, P.E. and China National Building Waterproofing Association President, Zhu Dongqing during the February Las Vegas International Roofing Expo.

More than 5,000 attendees and 300 exhibitors participated in the expo held in Shanghai, China’s financial and economic center. It is the largest trade show in China for roofing and waterproofing products. It attracts major manufacturers, professionals and consumers from around the world.

Manufacturers and other attendees, including staff from Chinese testing laboratories, were enthusiastic to learn about the ICC-ES evaluation report (ESR) program and the new building product listing program. Several manufacturers indicated they were ready to begin the ICC-ES evaluation process and submitted applications as first-time clients.

ICC-ES staff also visited evaluation report holders Carlisle Construction Materials and GAF Materials Corp., which hold multiple ESRs to discuss future needs and to thank them for relying on ICC-ES to meet their product evaluation needs.

“The seminar and expo booth proved to be very productive,” said Cheng. “We were able to explain the benefits of ICC-ES programs, answer several questions and meet many manufacturers who are interested in ICC-ES reports and listings.” Click here to view photos.
