WFTAO Meeting Draws Large International Attendance
ICC-ES successfully hosted the 11th annual meeting of the World Federation
of Technical Assessment Organizations (WFTAO) on November 1-3, 2006, in Pasadena,
California. Representatives from 11 countries attended.
The first day of the meeting was open to the public and included a range
of presentations on topics, including a presentation by Gary Nichols, V.P.,
Internal Operations on the ICC Evaluation Service Product Evaluation Program.
The rest of the meeting was dedicated to in-depth discussions on the various
technical assessment schemes currently operated by WFTAO members, followed
by a workshop conducted by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) on
product certification and technical assessment. The last day focused on WFTAO
organizational business. The next meeting is scheduled for September 10-15,
2007.
WFTAO is composed of ICC-ES counterparts from countries, including Europe,
Australia, Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, New Zealand and South Africa. ICC-ES
is the only non-governmental member of the organization and is widely recognized
for its technical expertise. WFTAO membership forms a network of cooperative
organizations seeking to minimize technical barriers to trade on building.
