Reports Issued

Numerous companies have been issued new ICC-ES evaluation reports on their products since our last ICC-ES eNews.
The list of reports issued in November and December includes the report number and the name of the product(s) recognized for code compliance.

How-To Guidelines
for Report Holders
 
When an ICC-ES Evaluation Report is issued‚ the manufacturer of the product may use the ICC-ES mark and report number to promote the product. ICC-ES has established guidelines that explain proper use of the mark. Helpful information regarding product labeling can also be found in the ID Section of each report and approval letter. Report holders can also find additional resources to promote their product on the ICC-ES website.

Code Changes Affecting Post Installed Concrete Anchor Design‚ co-authored by ICC-ES Principal Structural Engineer Brian Gerber. Structure Magazine is published by the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations.

Nondestructive Evaluation of RC Structures Strengthened with FRP Laminates Containing Near-surface Defects in the Form of Delaminations by ICC-ES Senior Evaluation Specialist Mahmut Ekenel was published in the December issue of Science and Engineering of Composite Materials Journal.

Evaluation Committee Meeting Underway

Twenty-five items are being considered at this week's Evaluation Committee meeting.

With 25 items on the final agenda‚ this week's Evaluation Committee meeting in Los Angeles promises to be a busy event. Discussions are being held on a wide range of subjects—from Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Cold-formed Steel Framing Members—Interior Nonload-bearing Wall Assemblies to Proposed Revisions to the Acceptance Criteria for Deck Board Span Ratings and Guardrail Systems (Guards and Handrails). ICC-ES Evaluation Committee meetings are open to the public with no registration required. ICC-ES eNews recipients will be notified as soon as the minutes from this week’s meeting are available.

 
2008 Evaluation Committee Schedule
 
Albany‚ New York‚ has been chosen as the location for the October Evaluation Committee meeting. You are invited to attend the 2008 Evaluation Committee meetings to learn how acceptance criteria are developed and, if you wish‚ to participate in the open hearing process. ICC-ES Introduces PMG Product Listings
 
Every day‚ code officials are challenged to evaluate the performance and code compliance of new products and processes‚ a challenge that requires significant time and effort. That’s why code officials look to product listings created by recognized industry experts. PMG Listing Program Web Pages Go Live
The new ICC-ES Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas (PMG) listing program web pages are now available. (You may wish to bookmark this address for future reference.) The site includes information about the listing program’s application process‚ rules of procedure‚ listing criteria and the ICC-ES PMG Listing Mark.

These pages have been developed to provide information about the new program‚ which will assist those who enforce codes in determining whether a plumbing, mechanical or fuel gas product complies not only with applicable standards‚ but also with applicable codes. This program is unique in that code compliance is not normally covered in listing programs. Our program will also include ongoing inspections to ensure that the manufacturing process for the approved product remains consistent.
 
CSTB Training to Begin in March
 
ICC-ES will be in Paris this March to train the CSTB trainers for joint efforts in China.
 
ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) announced an agreement in 2007 with France’s Centre Scientifique et Technique du Batiment (CSTB) aimed at fostering recognition of products going to China from the U.S‚ and coming to the U.S. from China. In March of this year‚ ICC-ES will begin training at the CSTB offices in Paris on the ICC-ES product-evaluation system as well as areas such as U.S. standards‚ evaluation criteria and building codes.

Evaluation Committee
ICC-ES would like to thank outgoing Evaluation Committee members Ted Droessler and Eddie Ho for their service on the committee. The newly appointed members are Dr. Hussain Bhatia‚ S.E.‚ with the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development for the State of California and Lawrence Brugger‚ S.E.‚ who is the Superintendent of Building and Safety‚ Department of Planning and Building for the City of Long Beach‚ California.
Evaluation Service Advisory Committee

Four outgoing members of the advisory committee-Kenneth Bland‚ P.E.‚ of the American Forest & Paper Association; Lucas Floriani‚ P.E., of Hilti, Inc.; Dave Rice‚ P.E.‚ of Weyerhaeuser; and Keith Nakaoka‚ P.E‚. of ASC-will be replaced by David P. Tyree, P.E.‚ C.B.O.‚ of the American Forest and Paper Association; William Gould‚ P.E.‚ of Hilti‚ Inc.; Daniel Cheney of Weyerhaeuser; and Marca Hunter of ASC.

 
ESAC Reports Productive First Year
 
 
The ESAC is addressing a wide range of topics in 2008.
The Evaluation Services Advisory Committee (ESAC)‚ established by the ICC-ES Board of Directors to work with ICC-ES on matters related to Acceptance Criteria‚ Evaluation Reports and service-related issues‚ is beginning it second year of operation. Comprised of building industry members‚ ESAC had a successful first year and is looking forward to a productive second year. See what they have planned.
