We Have a New Look
As part of the International Code Council re-branding initiative, ICC Evaluation Service has made changes to our look. We also plan to make more improvements to our website next year.

Private Label Listing Offered

ICC Evaluation Service now offers a method for report holders to authorize private labelers to have their own reports without data having to be transferred from the report holder (referred to as the "master report holder",) to the private labelers. The ICC-ES Rules of Procedure for Evaluation Reports were amended to allow report holders to authorize the issuing of a separate evaluation report under the name of a product distributor.

How-To Guidelines
for Report Holders

When an ICC-ES Evaluation Report is issued, the manufacturer of the product may use the ICC-ES mark and report number to promote the product. ICC-ES has established guidelines that explain proper use of the mark. Helpful information regarding product labeling can also be found in the ID Section of each report and approval letter. Complete guidelines for New Reports (Section 13.0). Complete guidelines for Legacy Reports (Section 15.0).

ICC-ES Expands into PMG Product Listings

ICC Evaluation Service, Inc., (ICC-ES) is expanding into plumbing, mechanical and gas (PMG) product listings. ICC-ES will develop, implement and maintain accredited listing programs under the International Codes and other appropriate codes and standards to meet the needs of those who enforce building safety codes. Meetings Produce Positive Results

The ICC-ES Evaluation Committee meetings in Birmingham, Alabama, produced positive results for several acceptance criteria items on the agenda. With discussions covering a wide range of topics, from new criteria for spray-applied foam plastic insulation to the ongoing discussion about metal roof coverings, the Evaluation Committee, ICC-ES staff and interested parties worked diligently to resolve criteria issues.
Read highlights of some of the actions taken by the Evaluation Committee. Thirty-two separate items were considered at the three-day meeting, of which seven new acceptance criteria and 18 revised criteria were approved.

Walker Honored at ICC Conference

For 30 years of outstanding service to public safety through effective code development and enforcement, George Walker, Sr., 2003–2007 Chairman of the ICC-ES Board of Directors, received the prestigious Bobby J. Fowler Award during the Code Council's 2007 Annual Conference in Reno, Nevada. As first Chairman of the pre-consolidated Code Council, Walker's leadership in the development of a single set of codes and one organization greatly served the building safety industry.

When the Code Is Not Enough

Behind the Scenes Expertise and Collaboration Create Foundation for Evaluation of Alternative Products

As new materials, advanced construction techniques and increasingly sustainable building solutions move into the construction market, building code professionals are asked to understand and evaluate the application and performance of these solutions relative to the building code. They don't have to do it alone. For more than four decades, ICC-ES has developed reports and criteria that speak to those products and solutions that lack standards—providing uniformity of enforcement when code requirements lack clarity.
