David Zhao Joins ICC-ES Technical Staff
David Zhao, C.E., S.E., newly appointed Staff Engineer in the Los Angeles District Office of ICC-ES, is licensed as both a civil and a structural engineer. He was educated at Tongji University in Shanghai, and at Brigham Young University in Utah, where he earned a master’s degree and was enrolled for several years in the Ph.D. program.
Zhao began his career as a bridge designer in China, then immigrated to Hawaii and worked for four years in building design and analysis. He moved to California in 1994, served as a project engineer in San Diego for four more years, then took a position with the Riverside County Department of Building and Safety. Certified by the International Code Council as a plans examiner, Zhao was Senior Civil Engineer with Riverside County’s Plan Review Division before coming to ICC-ES.
ICC-ES is happy to have onboard an engineer with David’s impressive educational background and work experience. It is particularly useful to have another structural engineer on staff, and one with long experience in the building industry.
