Call for Evaluation Committee Applications
ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) is now calling for applications from individuals
having an interest in serving on the ICC-ES Evaluation Committee, to consider
requirements for recognition of building products in ICC-ES evaluation reports,
especially with reference to the needs of the code official. The Evaluation Committee,
composed of nine voting members with a nonvoting Chairman-Moderator, conducts
public hearings on acceptance criteria prepared by the ICC-ES staff. At these
hearings, both written and verbal comments are received from domestic and international
experts on innovative products not specifically addressed in the code. This input,
along with responding staff comments, are considered by the committee as part
of the approval process for new and revised product acceptance criteria. Committee
members have the opportunity to become familiar with new products and to express
their concerns as code officials.
Applications must be filed by February 10, 2006, to be considered. Successful
candidates will be appointed by the ICC-ES Board of Directors in March 2006, for
an 18-month term effective July 1, 2006. A successful applicant as a voting committee
member can serve a maximum of three 18-month terms, subject to reapplication and
Board approval for each term. Exception to this limitation is in filling an unexpired
term during which two Evaluation Committee meetings have previously been scheduled.
There will be at least three voting member vacancies to fill on the current Committee.
The two- or three-day Committee meetings occur three times a year, in February,
June and October, in Chicago, Birmingham and Los Angeles. Transportation, food
and lodging expenses associated with these meetings will be covered by ICC-ES.
To serve on the Committee, candidates must be employed by or represent a governmental
jurisdiction enforcing building regulations, and have the concurrence of the jurisdiction.
Applicants must complete the attached Evaluation Committee application and forward
it to the ICC-ES business office as noted on the application. Applications must
be received or postmarked by February 10, 2006, to be considered.
