New ICC-ES Program Earns ANSI Accreditation

The ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas listing program (PMG) has received accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). The PMG program evaluates products’ compliance with the International Codes and other model codes and standards.

“As an ANSI accredited product certification program, ICC-ES PMG provides assurances to manufacturers and code officials that we are carrying out product certification in compliance with international standards,” said Bernie Soesilo, ICC-ES Director of Listing Programs. “Although the ICC-ES evaluation program for building and related products, including plumbing, has been accredited by ANSI since 2003, ICC-ES obtained ANSI accreditation for its new PMG listing program to assure the industry that we are dedicated to this listing program. It is one of the few that lists products based on requirements in plumbing, mechanical, and fuel gas codes and standards.”

ANSI’s accreditation certifies that the PMG program operates under ISO/IEC Guide 65, “General Requirements for Bodies Operating Product Certification Systems,” the same guidelines under which ICC-ES program for evaluation reports is certified. The accreditation of ICC-ES’ new program involved an extensive review of the PMG program’s technical procedures. For more information or apply for the ICC-ES PMG listing program, click here.

A nonprofit, public-benefit corporation, ICC-ES does technical evaluations of building products, components, methods and materials. ICC-ES evaluation reports and the new listing program for plumbing, mechanical and gas products provide evidence that products and systems meet code requirements. ICC-ES is a subsidiary of the International Code Council.
