Updating ICC-ES Evaluation Reports to Comply with International Codes
With the steady adoptions of the International Codes nationwide, the need for report holders to update their legacy report to show compliance and for code officials to verify compliance with the International Building Code has become critical. Many ICC-ES evaluation report holders have begun, or already completed the process to convert their reports to the I-Code requirements. For those who have not started the conversion process, ICC-ES provides the following procedures.
As the legacy reports come up for regular re-examination, those that can be determined to comply with the applicable International Codes without further action on the part of the report holder, will automatically be revised to address the 2006 codes. For reports not yet due for re-examination, ICC-ES will determine which legacy reports could be converted to new ICC-ES reports without the submission of new data in order to speed up the conversion of reports. In these cases, ICC-ES will contact the report holder and give him an opportunity to apply for an interim revision to convert the report before the scheduled re-examination date.
To encourage legacy report holders to convert their reports, even when new data is required to show compliance with the International Codes but does not involve the development of acceptance criteria, ICC-ES will, until December 31, 2007, offer a break on fees for such conversions. For those legacy reports that will require the development of an acceptance criteria to complete a conversion, ICC-ES will, until December 31, 2007, accept applications for conversion based on the fees shown in Table 4 of the Fee Schedule (for a one-year report), instead of the normal Table 8 for a conversion with significant changes. On January 1, 2008, the fees for conversion will revert to the normal Fee Schedule. For more information regarding fees, please see our fee schedule online at
http://www.icc-es.org/pdf/fee_schedule.pdf.
ICC-ES encourages report holders to take advantage of this offer to incorporate
current code requirements in their reports. Building products that have been
evaluated with the IBC and have an ICC-ES evaluation report will be posted
online at no cost at http://www.icc-es.org/Evaluation_Reports/index.shtml.
